The journey from Guptkashi to Kedarnath isn’t just a trek—it’s a spiritual and visual treat through the heart of the Himalayas. Along the way, several scenic and sacred spots make the route truly memorable:
Sonprayag
A peaceful riverside spot where the Mandakini and Basuki rivers meet. This is the last point for private vehicles—pilgrims switch to local jeeps here. It’s also believed to be the place where Shiva and Parvati united.
Gaurikund
The official starting point of the Kedarnath trek. Known for its natural hot spring and Gauri Temple, this place is wrapped in legend and devotion. Many take a holy dip before starting the climb.
Trek Stop Views: Jungle Chatti, Bheembali & Lincholi
These are peaceful halts during the 16 km trek:
- Jungle Chatti – Forest-covered and calm
- Bheembali – Midway stop with basic food and first aid
- Lincholi – Panoramic views and tent accommodations close to Kedarnath
Helipad Points: Phata, Sirsi, Guptkashi
If you’re flying, the short ride offers jaw-dropping aerial views of valleys, rivers, and snow peaks. Even from the ground, watching helicopters soar over the Himalayas is a sight to remember.
Rudra Point
Just before Kedarnath, Rudra Point offers sweeping views of the mountain range. A quiet spot to catch your breath and soak in the divine silence.
Nature & Devotion Combined
All along the route, the Mandakini River, thick pine forests, and echoing temple bells remind you—this journey is as spiritual as it is scenic.
