Agrasen Ki Baoli

Agrasen Ki Baoli

There is no clear historical record of when and by whom the beautiful Agrasen Ki Baoli was built. However, many historians suggest that it was originally constructed during the Mahabharata era by none other than Maharaja Agrasen, the great king of Agroha. The stepwell derives its name from him.

Later, in the 14th century, it was rebuilt by the Agarwal community, who are believed to be the descendants of Maharaja Agrasen. The architectural features of the Baoli also indicate that it was reconstructed during the reign of either the Tughlaq dynasty (1321–1414) or the Lodi dynasty (1451–1526) when they ruled Delhi.
