Why People Love Rohtang Pass

Rohtang is not just a snow point. It’s an experience. When you reach there, you see mountains all around, white snow everywhere, and cool fresh air touching your face.

  • You can play in snow, do sledding, or just sit and enjoy the view.
  • It feels like you are on top of the world — clouds below, snow above.
  • It’s also the gateway to Lahaul-Spiti, the cold desert of Himachal.

And near this pass, there’s a small water source called Beas Kund, where it is believed sage Ved Vyas did meditation.

Your One-Day Plan for Rohtang Trip

Start Early

On the Way

First stop at Rani Nala – a spot full of snow even in summer.

Then comes Rahala Falls – cold water falling from the mountains, great for pictures.

At Rohtang Top

Snow games, sledding, or snow scooters.

Take selfies with the Himalayan backdrop.

Feel the clouds — really! They float right around you.

Return via Marhi

While returning, stop at Marhi, a small roadside spot where you get hot Maggi, momos, chai, and warm bonfires.

Back in Manali by evening. A warm dinner will feel great after a snowy day.

Things to Carry

  • Warm jacket, gloves, cap, and boots (you can rent them on the way too).
  • Sunglasses – snow reflects a lot of light.
  • Carry water and light snacks.
  • Most importantly, don’t forget to take it slow. The air is thin at the top.
