About Siddhivinayak Siddhatek Ganpati
Lord Vishnu himself worshipped Lord Ganesha here to attain divine powers and defeat the demons Madhu and Kaitabh. The temple is unique as the idol of Ganesha faced to the right, which is considered more powerful and spiritul. According to legends, Lord Vishnu couldn’t win over the demons until Lord Shiva reminded him to invoke Lord Ganesha. Vishnu then meditated on this hill and received Siddhis from Ganesha, hence the name “Siddhivinayak” and the place being called “Siddhatek”.
The temple is believed to be established by Lord Vishnu, while the present structure was built in the 18th century by Queen Ahilyabai Holkar of Indore.
