When Guru Nanak Dev Ji visited Ladakh during his second Udasi (missionary journey between 1515–18), local legend says he relieved the people from a tyrannical demon. While meditating by a riverbank, the demon threw a huge boulder at him. Miraculously, when the stone reached Guru Ji, it softened like wax and took the shape of his back.
